JAMES Meredith intends to pick up his game again after earning the plaudits in League One's team of the year.

The left back was City's sole nomination in the pick of the division's most consistent players announced by the English Football League .

But Meredith, who has started 39 games, believes he can kick up a gear during the run-in.

He said: "I'm fairly pleased with my form but I wish the last six weeks had gone a bit better. I've had niggles here and there.

"But I want to finish the season strongly on a personal level. We've got some really big games to come like Scunthorpe away and it's going to be exciting to see how we get on.

"Whatever the outcome at the end of the season, hopefully we can go into things with a lot of positivity and everyone behind us."

The top-six picture is set to change once more tonight as Bolton play one of their two games in hand at Oxford, while Millwall – who have played three fewer than City – travel to Rochdale. The Lions are currently seventh and seven points behind.

Stuart McCall and Kenny Black will be at Spotland, where the Bantams will bring down the League One curtain on April 30.

McCall insists that is the only time he will be taking a serious glance at the table and said: "A lot can change between now and then.

"There are still teams who can put a run together and be right up there in the mix.

"Oxford had lost three out of four before they beat Scunthorpe at the weekend. Before that, they would have been capable of catching up with the games in hand.

"But they are playing teams around them like Bolton, so things can change again.

"Looking at it now, Millwall, Southend, ourselves, Fleetwood and Scunthorpe are all battling for the play-off places. But the bottom line is the table only matters after we've finished at Rochdale.

"We've just got to keep focused on each game and keep believing in each other. I'm sure the fans will keep believing in the players to keep doing what they have been.

"We're naturally looking forward to going to Scunthorpe on Sunday and I know we will be backed by a sell-out away crowd.

"We'll have a good week building up to that – and an even better week thanks to that 91st-minute winner on Saturday."

City were given a day off yesterday and McCall expects an extra spring in the step at training this morning following the dramatic finish against Swindon.

The Bantams boss said: "It made everyone's weekend. I'm sure the fans were just as happy because they've not seen enough wins at home.

"I've watched the game back and you look at the opportunities we had – but it's a great feeling when you win as late as that.

"We've had a couple of other late ones this season at Wimbledon and Northampton and winning like that gives us all a lift."

City midfielder Nicky Law will rejoin the squad for full training this morning after recovering from his knee injury.
