TASIF Khan let his fists do the talking to silence the jibes of his latest victim.

The Girlington bantamweight took a step up in class to face Ghanaian Ekow Wilson, whose 16 wins from 18 pro contests included 14 knockouts.

But he was pumped up by Wilson’s pre-fight posturing and claims that Khan was too afraid to face him.

That back-fired in an explosive slug-fest at the Connaught Rooms as the home fighter came out on top.

Khan said: “This fight wasn’t about titles and belts. It was about pride and setting the record straight, as well as making Ekow show me the respect I deserve as a fighter.

“Ekow did a lot of talking in the build-up, claiming he has wanted this fight for a long time but my team had refused because we were scared. That was utter nonsense.

“I didn’t respond as I wanted to let my performance in the ring do the talking for me. I respect all who get into the ring to fight.”

A packed house was treated to a cracking contest as both men went toe-to-toe.

Khan’s body shots held the edge and he twice forced the African to drop to his knees in the third round. But each time Wilson was up before the count had reached six.

Wilson was down again in the fifth from another crushing blow to the ribs but again managed to recover and even took the fight to Khan in the closing minutes of the round.

Both men traded huge blows in the sixth before Khan found another gap in his opponent’s defence to dump him once more.

Wilson still made it back up and tried to carry on before his corner decided that was enough punishment.
