STANNINGLEY moved up to sixth in the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division thanks to a 1-0 home win over Grangefield Old Boys.

The winning goal came midway through the first half, with Tom Stewart's strike deflected into the net by a visiting defender.

Leeds Medics & Dentists also netted a home victory – winning 3-1 against Farsley Celtic Juniors.

Medics took a two-goal lead into the interval with goals from Niall Robinson and John Forrest.

Robinson doubled his tally after the break with the Farsley goal coming from Josh Maskill.

Alwoodley defeated Farnley Sports 3-0 in their clash, with the hosts bagging two goals in the first ten minutes – through Callum Armstrong and an own goal from Andy Punter.

Farnley responded well, but Armstrong's second goal killed off their hopes of a comeback.

In the Championship, Drighlington claimed a 2-0 triumph at Mount St Mary's.

A penalty was awarded to the visitors in the first half for a foul on Shane Sowden, with Johnny Kitchen doing the rest from the spot.

More good football followed in the second half with Sowden doubling the Drig lead.

Thornesians were overjoyed with their excellent 4-2 victory over visiting Calverley United.

David Toft and Chris Wilde put Thornesians 2-0 ahead, but two goals for Calverley – including an own goal by Thornes player-manager Chris Bolland – restored parity. Ryan Baxby and Ryan Dobson gave Thornes the three points.

Division One leaders Gildersome Spurs OB hammered Old Batelians 8-0.

Mike Hall netted a treble, with the other Spurs' scorers being Ben Keedy, Aidi McCormack, Jason Hardcastle, Conor Firth and Max Elliott.

Grangefield OB Res were beaten 7-0 by visiting Leeds Medics III. Gavin Scott, Fergus Machin (3), Danny Briscoe, Paul Hodgson and Charlie Izard were all on target.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Res drew 1-1 with Rothwell, with Callum Morris netting for Farsley.

St Bedes thrashed fifth in the table Huddersfield YMCA 9-1 with a sensational display.

Adeeb Jawad notched four goals, with substitute Nathan Bailey grabbing a brace, while Brad Holland, Jarad Peltier and Tahweed Ahmed were also on target.

In Division Two, Idle registered a 4-2 home victory over Collegians.

Idle were two goals down at the close of the first half with Louis Wrafter and Josh Orchard obliging for the visitors.

The second half was a true show of character from the Idle boys with Aaron Irving slotting home a penalty to get them back in the game.

Jack Strudwick netted the equaliser with a deflected effort from the edge of the area before the same man nodded home a Ryan Mitchell cross.

Idle sealed the victory after some lovely inter-play between Irving and Tom Simonett, with the midfield man applying the finish under the keeper.

In Division Three, Fairbank Utd and East Ardsley Wanderers drew 1-1.

East Ardsley were ahead within five minutes. A long throw caused havoc in the area, leading to the ball falling to Joe Hill who claimed his 21st goal of the season.

Fairbank began to gain a foothold in the game after the break, and on 65 minutes, a flick on from Zeeshan Khan sent through Shoaib Hussain, who converted from close range.

In Division Five, Drighlington Res landed a 5-1 victory over Norristhorpe Res.

Norristhorpe took the lead through Lewis Holliday but goals from Noel Hynes, Joe Lawrence, Jack Priestley, Anthony Thompson and Jamie Snelgrove proved the difference.
