THE cream of the city's up and coming youngsters will be on parade when Queensbury host Wibsey Warriors in a semi-final of the Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup at Asa Briggs on Saturday.

Bury, who have been rewarded for giving youth its head in this year’s Pennine League Division Four campaign with what is virtually last seasons under-17 team and are in pole position for the championship, add a clutch of teenagers to the squad that trounced Wortley Dragons last week.

Centre Jack McMillan, full back Robson Moore, hooker Joel Charlton, second-row forward Jed Townsend and free-scoring wingman Nathan Burke are all in the mix to claim a jersey but there is a notable absentee in old head Brett Marriott, who is out with a leg injury.

Wibsey Warriors, who play in the Yorkshire Men's League, also have an impressive track record of producing local talent.

Coach Alan Redmonds hands 17-year-old duo James Todd and Jack Cull their debuts.

However, the wily former South Bradford centre is keeping his final selection close to his chest, having injury doubts concerning pack leader Mike Kite, back-rower Danny Conroy and half-back and playmaker Jimmy Rodger.

Birkenshaw entertain Odsal Sedbergh in the other semi-final at East Bierley.

Birky coach Lee Wilkins will be relieved to have pack stalwarts - hooker Nathan Hadfield and Paul Bancroft - back in the squad to face a Sedbergh outfit that are home grown and have had the benefit of playing together for a long period.

The sides will also compete for the Darren Dickinson Trophy in memory of a player who turned out for both clubs for many years.

Birkenshaw secretary Simon Armitage would like to invite any of his family to attend and can be contacted on 07966-322491.

West Bowling coach Glenn Barraclough is looking to put one over one of his protégés when his side arrive at Elland in Kingstone National Conference League Division Three.

New Elland boss Jode Sherriff was a pupil under Barraclough at Keighley Cougars before moving to his present professional club, Dewsbury Rams, which will provide added spice to the derby.

Both sides lost their opening games last week and West’s have responded by upping the anti with a series of intensive practice sessions during the week.

Centre Joe Smedley is unavailable, so wingman James Crabb is drafted into the squad.

Bradford Dudley Hill will count the bruises from last week’s fiery clash at Salford City Roosters before naming the team to face Millom in  Conference Division Two at Parry Lane.
