BRADFORD Park Avenue were denied a chance to keep their momentum in Vanarama National North going when they suffered their first postponement of the season yesterday.

Mark Bower’s men were primed for the short trip over the Pennines to take on fellow strugglers Stalybridge Celtic.

However, the Celts’ Bower Fold was under standing water following the excessive rain on Friday evening and yesterday morning.

Midfielder Jake Hibbs was prevented from making his Avenue debut by the call off but the club he joined on loan until the end of the season from counterparts FC Halifax Town did not lose any ground in the table.

Avenue remain 18th, two places and three points above the relegation zone as only one of the four clubs below them picked up a maximum.

The two clubs directly below Avenue - Gainsborough Trinity and Worcester City - both lost and Stalybridge stay second from bottom with yestersay's home game to rearrange.

The only one of the clubs below Avenue to win was basement outfit Altrincham, who beat Worcester 2-0 at home.

Avenue must wait until this coming Saturday for their next game when they host ninth-placed Gloucester City.
