Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup: Clayton 18 Queensbury 20

HOLDERS Clayton bowed out of this year's competition with their heads held high after a glorious home defeat against old rivals Queensbury.

Bury had first use of the slope and soon made it count when centre Callum Murgatroyd reached the chalk, leaving Robson Moore to tag on the extras.

Then a darting try from hooker Joel Charlton was quickly followed by another effort from wingman Nathan Blake, with stand-off Billy Naylor adding the conversion for a 16-0 half-time lead.

The game-busting moment came shortly after the restart when wingman Chris Hanson went over in the corner to push Bury further out of reach at 20-0.

It looked to be all over for the hosts but a brace of tries from Jamie Waterman and a solo cameo from loose forward Simon Giles, all converted by stand-off Dane Bairstow, set up a thrilling finale.

Clayton laid siege to the Bury red zone and dropped the ball over the line twice before the nerve-jangling final whistle from referee Bob Ingham ended an epic battle that put Bury into the semi-finals.

Wibsey Warriors paced themselves to perfection to go through 24-12 at home to Wyke.

The first stanza ended at 12-12 following home touchdowns from Dan Conroy and Brad Tattersall, converted by Brad Wright.

Wyke replied through Mark Frith and Ryan Exley, with Ben Procter also ensuring full reward.

The second half belonged to the Warriors, however, as the black and whites ran out of steam, with Kieron Smith and Elliot Culling reaching the chalk, leaving Smith to increase his tally to four with the boot.

Odsal Sedbergh gained revenge for last season's semi-final defeat by easing Victoria Rangers out of the running 24-12.

Sedge went in front with a touchdown from Kaine Mc Ewan before the Vics rallied to change ends 8-6 up.

Sedge dominated the game from then on, with a telling brace from old warhorse Bob Booth and a smart solo special from Josh Tordoff.

Centre Luke Dawson was on target with all of the conversion attempts to ensure a place in tonight's semi-final draw at Clayton Rugby Club.

Brighouse Rangers coasted into the next round of the Joseph Fee Halifax Cup by 50-12 at home to King Cross Park.

Rangers reached the whitewash on eight occasions, with wingmen Richie McGlade and Louie Sweeney each poaching a brace.

Stand-off Jack Hyde also crossed twice, together with solos from prop Ben Waud and centre Joe Campbell.
