LEE SMITH has expressed his delight at joining Bulls on a two-year deal.

The former England international had been a free agent after his contract with promoted Super League club Leigh was cancelled by mutual consent earlier this month.

Aged 30, the winger/full back will not not available to face Swinton Lions tomorrow but is sure to be a key figure in helping Bulls maintain their Championship status this season.

Smith, from Morley, has enjoyed success at the highest level domestically, having played and scored in three Grand Finals with Leeds Rhinos, including a man of the match display in the 2008 win over St Helens.

He has also played for Wakefield Trinity and had brief spells in rugby union before joining Leigh last season when he scored 12 tries and 36 goals in 23 appearances to help them win promotion.

Smith, whose deal with Bulls includes an extension option, said: “I’m over the moon to get a contract and get back playing so soon.

“Bradford have been in trouble and as a local lad that is sad to see.

“Hopefully I can help them get back to where they once were.

“I have experience of playing in the Championship with Leigh, so I know what I am coming up against.”
