BRADFORD'S Liam Staveley seems to be on the fast track to refereeing stardom.
The former Wibsey junior, who is a member of Bradford & Keighley Referees' Society, has been getting good reviews in the Kingstone Press National Conference League.
Now, however, without forgetting his Clayton roots – he stood in there recently in a Pennine League match when the appointed referee failed to turn up – he has taken the step up to being in charge of pre-season friendlies involving semi-professional and professional clubs.
Last Sunday he officiated Keighley Cougars v Whitehaven, while this Sunday he is at the KCOM Stadium for Hull FC v Kingstone Press National One newcomers Toronto Wolfpack.
On Saturday, January 28, Liam will be in charge of the first round Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie between Fryston Warriors and Normanton Knights.
