REVENGE is on the agenda for Bradford City Women this weekend as they visit Newcastle United on their return to action after Christmas.

United held City to a goalless draw in the FA Women's Premier League last month, playing for a point in West Yorkshire to aid them in their relegation battle.

That frustrating afternoon will be weighing heavily on the minds of the Bantams tomorrow as they aim to start 2017 with a bang.

That last meeting has also had an impact on the players' training as City prepare for the tough task United's defence will present.

"We've been working on moving the ball quicker in the final third this week," said player-manager Charlotte Stuart.

"The focus has been on breaking teams down because we know they will sit and play deep, just like they did last time."

Newcastle are rooted to the foot of the Northern Division table and come into this fixture off the back of an upset in the FA Women's Cup at lower-league Liverpool Marshall Feds.

Meanwhile, City are feeling fresh after an extra week off and their near full-strength squad know that a win could lift them to third place if other results go their way.

Only Laura Elford is ruled out of the fixture through suspension, with Ellie Olds recovering well from last month's ankle ligament tear.

Yasmin Ayub is expected to fill Elford's place through the middle of the front three and City will hope the creative midfielder can play the passes to split Newcastle's defence from a more advanced position.

Yet the whole team will need to play their part for Bradford to pass the stern test that awaits them, with Stuart predicting: "The key will be being patient in our pursuit of the three points."
