Colne Valley 2 Bingley Bees 2

BINGLEY Bees attacked from the off on a misty morning at Mirfield Free Grammar School in a bid to back up their captain's ambition of scoring within the first ten minutes in the Yorkshire Women's Division Two contest.

They achieved their aim with two minutes to spare as, from a classic penalty-corner routine, Lillian Allen hit out to Janice Reid, whose strike clipped the right-hand post before arcing in front of the goal-line and ending up in the left corner of the net.

Player of the match Rachael Holdsworth soon made it 2-0 for the third-bottom side, breaking from halfway and holding her nerve by slipping the ball through the legs of the advancing keeper.

This was the half-time score and despite the fog thickening in the second half, both teams were determined to finish the match.

Colne Valley, who are immediately above the visitors in the table, then upped their game to earn a 2-2 draw, which was a fair result.
