BOSS Jonathan Rimmington is aiming to get Liversedge back up the table following their mid-season dip.

They are seventh in Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, which is a vast improvement on this time last season when they were rock bottom.

Rimmington says that the club are in far better shape now and he’s looking ahead, not back.

“A lot of people have been waiting for us to fall flat after leading early on but you just have to look at how far we’ve come,” said Rimmington.

“We were top for a while, and that was a good feeling, but it’s nice to see Thackley up there now.

"They were top before Cleethorpes went above them but Thackley are pushing them all the way.

“We played Albion Sports the other week and we got a draw at their place, which is a good point because they are a very good side.

"Thackley being up there, Albion in the top four and us not far behind, I think it is great.

“It's good for the area and it’s certainly interesting. There are some fine players in this area and if the local sides are doing well they will stay around and will want to play for them.

“That’s what’s making it interesting, and with us three in this division all doing well there have been some good derby games and there will be some more because we’ll get our form back and get up there again – if we can get ourselves that goal-scorer.”

Rimmington had hoped to sign Devonte Morton from Albion Sports but the young striker, who came up through Guiseley’s academy, and is only on loan from the National League club, got an offer to play in the Evo-Stik League.

Rimmington put seven days' notice of approach in so that he could speak to Morton but Brighouse Town came in and he has already made his Division One North debut for them – another of the area’s clubs that are doing well.
