BIRKENSHAW’S Pennine League Division Three prospects are proving to be a magnet in their recruiting campaign this term.

Their coaching set-up and the newly-built changing rooms have attracted a bevy of talented players to the club.

Following last week’s impressive half-century romp at home to Sherburn Bears, another influx of new arrivals are in contention for a berth when they travel to Dewsbury Celtic tomorrow.

New signings Luke Hudson (Shaw Cross Sharks), Luke Manning (Mirfield Stags) and Domenic Liversedge (Knottingley Worms) are pencilled into a strong squad.

The Division One derby between Bradford Victoria Rangers and Wyke should be the usual rumbustious meeting between the two oldest clubs in Bradford.

Wyke make the short journey across the city without pack leader Shaun Godfrey and talented BARLA international prop Ash Hutchinson.

Calvin Barker and Sam Kittsen also miss out but the return of classy centre Ryan Exley will go some way to alleviating their selection headaches.

The Vics are also struggling with numbers and could only field 14 men last week against Brighouse Rangers but the fact that they only fell to a last-gasp drop-goal defeat is a clear indication of their resolve.

Brighouse Rangers welcome Cumbrian outfit Dalton to Russell Way, hoping to continue their winning ways following that late success at the Vics.

Rangers welcome back half-back Jacob Hyde following his broken thumb, and should also have available new signing Liam Stead from Halifax club King Cross.

Dalton are one place above them in the pecking order but the long journey from Barrow could be the game-changer in what should be a close encounter.

Division Four Queensbury travel to King Cross Park in a buoyant frame of mind after running up a 70-plus tariff last time out.

Bury, who have a wealth of experience in a pack led by former Keighley Cougars and Dewsbury Rams prop Andy Senior, are hot on the heels of leaders Wortley Dragons, who have played an extra game and are three points ahead.

l West Bowling Under-12s will be crowned Yorkshire Junior League Division Four champions if they overcome New Earswick All Blacks at Clayton’s Lidget Green ground tomorrow (10.30am).

Bowling have a host of potential match-winners in Dan Housecroft, Zak Alderson, Bailey Stead, Louis Turley, Harrison Friebach and Lewis Jardine.
