NATHANIEL Knight-Percival intends to relish every game he plays at Valley Parade.

The cultured central defender has made a smooth transition from Shrewsbury to City and has not been fazed by home crowds three times the size of what he had been used to.

City host Fleetwood tonight with a pressing need to get back to winning ways after five straight draws.

But Knight-Percival is happy to perform with that weight of expectation compared with last season’s relegation fight for the Shrews.

“It’s one of the things you get with a big club and it’s nice to revel in it a little bit,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying playing in front of big crowds, getting that level of support and being at the other end of the table.

“You are aware of the noise of the crowd. When you’re shooting towards the Kop end, it does get very loud.

“But you can’t help but enjoy that. Sometimes it can pass you by a little bit, so it’s nice to make the most of it.”

City have drawn three out of four at Valley Parade ahead of the visit from a team who have never beaten them in six previous attempts.

Knight-Percival has no doubts Stuart McCall’s men can start churning out the wins that their performances have justified.

“We’ve played some great football and probably had the lion’s share of possession,” he said.

“It is a bit frustrating coming away with just a point when you have probably done enough to get three. But this is football and we’re still picking up points to get us closer to where we want to be.

“We are confident – we have to be. We go into games thinking we can win, not in a cocky, arrogant kind of way but we just have that self-belief. We have that confidence in our team-mates and ourselves.

“Competition for places is obviously healthy. It’s something you always want and it does keep everyone on their toes.

“It’s going well so far. Some of the games we could have picked up

more points but we’re on the right track.”

Josh Cullen admits City must start making the most of home advantage to back up their solid results on the road.

The midfielder said: “We’ve got to respect the points that we’ve picked up at Gillingham, Millwall and Bolton.

“But the gaffer’s told us we’ve got to cash them in and really make them count by getting three points tonight. That’s what we are focusing on.”

Cullen is confident he will be okay to continue despite finding himself singled out for some physical treatment at the Macron Stadium.

He said: “I will be fine. I am usually pretty durable, so fingers crossed I will be all right.”
