WYKE Wanderers progressed in the West Yorkshire League Cup after drawing 3-3 with Boroughbridge before beating them 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.

Boroughbridge went ahead but Wyke equalised through Sibu Moyo. Bridge restored their lead before Wanderers equalised again through Joe Entwhistle but they were then reduced to ten men when Cameron Day received a second yellow card.

Boroughbridge made the score 3-2 in their favour but in the last minute Wyke goalkeeper Brad Emerson made a fine save that enabled Karl Fawcett to cross the ball for Matt Conway to level.

The tie went to penalties, which saw Emerson save the first Boroughbridge attempt. Wyke converted all their spot-kicks through Conway, Fawcett, Entwhistle and Craig Sheridan.

Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: "We didn't play that well but we had great fighting qualities and a never-say-die attitude that took us through to the next round."

League action saw Baildon Trinity Athletic travel to Middleton Park in Division Two and come away with a point after a 2-2 draw.

Baildon started well as the central midfield three of Darren Rands, Nick Wadsworth and Dean Rands controlled the first half with some slick passing moves.

They found themselves creating a number of half chances through Ash Cooper and Andrew Radosevic and it was those two who combined for Trinity's deserved opener as Cooper saw his shot saved well by the Middleton goalkeeper before Radosevic dispatched the rebound.

Baildon set out to increase their advantage in the second half but, against the run of play, were pegged back by the home side.

A long ball found the Middleton right winger through on goal and his shot deflected off two Trinity defenders before flying past the goalkeeper.

Trinity again responded well, continuing to look the better team, and could have been a number of goals to the good before getting their second through substitute Steve Sample, who bundled home from close range.

However, Baildon found themselves on the receiving end of a fortunate equaliser when a corner floated directly over the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net to level the final scores.

Jack Webster grabbed a hat-trick for Field Reserves in their 5-2 win against Beeson St Anthony's Reserves in a Trophy Cup tie.

Liam Lambert and substitute Matt Hartley scored the other goals for Field, whose cause was helped with the dismissal of two Beeston players.

Field had no scheduled match for the second week running in the Premier Division because some of their players are in Romania playing for the West Yorkshire League representative team.
