BRADFORD Salem are handing out two debuts as they bid for their first victory of the season in Yorkshire Division One.

Pulling newcomers from their twin sources of Bradford Grammar School and Leeds Beckett University, they bring in student centre Jake Abram, who has played club rugby at Lancashire North’s Tarleton, near Preston.

Also being given his first opportunity in the derby at North Ribblesdale is 18-year-old BGS flanker Callum Manchester, who played for Salem’s second team last weekend.

However, Salem, who have begun the campaign with three narrow losses, will try to give centre or flanker Conor Wood a chance off the bench after an ankle injury.

Stuart Inman was getting some stick from his team-mates when he was in the clubhouse after KEIGHLEY’S narrow victory at Salem last Saturday.

Sweat was running off his face and his sleeveless club shirt was also streaked with perspiration.

“I could have had a cooler day to make my comeback,” laughed the 31-year-old lock, who was playing his first league match since injuring knee ligaments in February 2014 at Acklam – the season that both clubs were relegated from Yorkshire Division One.

“But the knee felt fine and it was good to get 80 minutes under my belt.”

Keighley host Beverley, who have won two of their three matches, tomorrow.

BAILDON, who are at Halifax Vandals, have won three out of three in Yorkshire Division Three.

“We make hard work of beating Northallerton last week,” admitted Baildon’s coach Andy Pollard..

“We are a young side and Northallerton had quite a few older heads, as did we when were successful a few seasons ago.”
