I WAS fortunate to be a guest of the club in the new Legends Suite for the Coventry game.

Greg Abbott couldn’t make it because of his scouting commitments but it was great to see my old team-mate Martin Singleton, who also played for both clubs.

I’d only seen Martin once in the last 27 years because he’s such a recluse and has been living like a hermit hidden away.

But he’s still got the same mop-head hair as when he was playing, although it’s a wee bit darker than before!

We were reminiscing about when the three of us first came up from Coventry and lived together in accommodation in Horsforth.

I tell you what. Abbo was like a tramp.

The place was a complete mess – apart from the bathroom.

We had a sunken bath with a white shag-pile carpet all the way round it and that was the only decent part of the house. I was tempted to sleep in there.

I know Abbo used to kip on the settee because he couldn’t get in his room!

Martin and I enjoyed talk about all the old stories and I think it’s great that City are involving ex-players more – which is something that other clubs do.

More events are planned and I know there is a golf day at the Bradford Golf Club on September 21 when there will be former players taking part in the teams who enter.
