HALIFAX Direct took a huge step closer to the Dales Council League title as the weather denied closest A Division rivals Bradford Moor the chance to narrow the gap at the top.

Bradford Moor had posted a challenging 222-9 as Banares Saddique finished unbeaten on 54 and leaders Halifax Direct were 43-0 when rain stopped play.

That was the story throughout the top flight, with no matches playing to a conclusion.

Leeds Sikh posted 218-8 and third-placed Thornbury were in a good position at 122-3 (Yassir Javed 59) in reply when rain stopped the action.

Cookridge were 85-1 in response to second-bottom Pudsey Congs' 176-4 (Gary Lewsley 74no).

Bottom side Drighlington were 118-3 against New Wortley, while Farnley Hill had reached 113-4 at Woodhouse.

There were two results in B Division – including leaders Caribbean rushing out mid-table Baildon for just 32 (Everton Wattley 5-7) having earlier racked up 239-2 (Wesley Bell 100no, Muhammed Naveed 70).

Second-placed Crompark were also able beat the elements as they dismissed Cookridge B for 85 after scoring 156.

Pudsey St Lawrence made 171 (Phil Wilson 62) but Adel were pulled up at 132-6 (Rob Wallace 50), while Leeds Sikh B totalled 168-6 (Taz Bashir 50) before Thornbury B were halted on 57-4.

Bottom side Shipley Providence were 16-1 at Savile Stars when rain forced an abandonment.

The joint-C Division leaders went head to head and it was home side Farsley (114-7) who came out on top after Alex Monaghan (7-17) felled Halifax Direct B for 66 to move clear at the summit.

Drighlington B made 156-9 but Shipley Providence knocked off the target for a six-wicket win.

Caribbean B made the day's highest score of 264-7 (Saeed Shah 75) and then bowled out Baildon B for just 63.
