ADRIAN Purtell admits he is dreaming of playing in Super League next year after finalising a move to London Broncos.

The Bulls captain will call time on his five years at Odsal at the end of the current campaign and head south to the capital.

He is joining Andrew Henderson’s side as a player-coach and will assist former Bradford team-mate Jamie Langley, who serves as the Broncos’ Under-19s coach.

London are currently fifth in the Qualifiers table but two of their remaining four games are at home, with Purtell confident they can push for a return to the big time.

The Aussie centre said: “It was tough for London last year but they have made huge progress this season and look like a team going places, so I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

“They definitely didn't look out of place last weekend against a strong Leeds Rhinos team.

“I think they will probably take a lot of confidence out of that, and so they should.

“They have still got a couple of home games left in the middle eights and anything could happen.

“It's a tough trip for away teams on the bus down to London.

“You really do have to be switched on when you go there and they certainly make it hard for visiting sides.

“It would be a dream for me to go down there and play in Super League again next season.”

Purtell has endured a rollercoaster ride since being signed by Mick Potter from Penrith ahead of the 2012 campaign.

He has endured the Bulls’ two spells in administration, relegation from Super League and agony of defeat in last season’s Million Pound Game.

The 31-year-old also bounced back from a career-threatening heart attack in May 2012 but is now looking forward to a new chapter.

Purtell, who is currently sidelined by a quad injury but will play again this season, has signed an initial one-year deal that will be extended into a second year if he plays a certain amount of games in 2017.

He explained: “Langers sent me a text and asked what my thoughts were about the possibility of a move to London.

“I get on with him quite well and enjoyed playing with him up here, so his text message really got me thinking.

“Andrew Henderson and I had a couple of good chats before we even started negotiating, just to see what we were both about.

“I like what Hendo's doing at the Broncos and am looking forward to being a part of the culture he has created down there.

“I'm at that stage of my career when I can pass on some of my experience and they have got some quality youngsters coming through the system.

“Hopefully I can help to guide them to become good professionals and have good careers in rugby league.

“I'm just looking forward to getting down there and having a fresh start, which I think I will definitely benefit from.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bradford and it has been eventful to say the least.

“But I will always be grateful to the opportunity that Bradford gave me.

“I've enjoyed the whole experience of playing for such a big club with a great fanbase.

“I've enjoyed every coach I've played under and every playing squad has been great – I will have mates from Bradford for life.

“It has been a great ride but it has been draining with all the stuff that has been going on off the field.

“I think for me, as a player and a person, the change will do me the world of good. It really excites me.”

Jay Pitts will follow Purtell in joining London on a two-year deal which should be announced shortly.

Meanwhile, a trio of Broncos players – Iliess Macani, Alex Foster and Jon Magrin – are expected to head in the opposite direction to Bradford.
