QUEENSBURY were the major winners on a rain-hit day in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League.

Only three first-team matches were completed but 'Bury went back to the top of Division One after triumphing at Low Moor.

First-change bowler Amjad Ali took 8-46 in 11.5 overs as the home side were dismissed for 124, with Queensbury then being sped to an eight-wicket victory in just 16 overs by opener Jamie Priestley (58no).

Queensbury (166 points) and Oxenhope (162) are now odd-on favourites to be playing Premier Division cricket in 2017 – but Great Horton Park Chapel, on 148, moved closer to Oxenhope, who were rained off at Bridgeholme, with a rain-affected win at home to Stones.

Chapel opener Amaar Syed was in a class of his own in making 151 not out of their 285-5, hitting 23 fours and two sixes.

Rain brought that total down to 250 but nine-man Stones got nowhere near that as they were dismissed for just 84.

The only other match to finish was at Shelf in Division Two, with the hosts making 229-9 off just 28.4 overs after being given a good start by openers Alex O'Keefe (54) and Jonathon Marshall (36), Sadiq Hyder Ali adding 32.

Opponents Greetland faced a revised target of 202 but were dismissed for 144, Babar Nawaz Malik taking 5-60 and Aamar Rashid 4-47.

Unluckiest team of the day were Cullingworth, who bowled out hosts Bradshaw for 145 (Ben Burkill 4-32, Phil Poole 3-30) and were 125-3 when the rain came again, with opener Jon Terry stranded on 46 not out.

Denholme Clough lead the way on 175 points, with Cullingworth on 159 and Shelf five further back.

In the Premier Division, opener Ian Hall made 90 for Jer Lane in their 190-4 at Blackley before the rain arrived, while Thornton were 92-0 off 15.1 overs (Ross Carnall 59no) in rely to Mytholmroyd's 196-4.
