BRADFORD City kick off a new season in FA Women's Premier League North against Derby County at Eccleshill United tomorrow.

It heralds the start of a new era following the decision of head coach Steve Winterburn to take a break from the game after a decade at the club.

Winterburn, having started out with a championship in his first season as second-team manager, went on to became the longest-serving and most successful manager/coach in City's 28-year history, winning a host of domestic titles and county trophies at all levels.

Lee Harrison, Winterburn's right-hand man last term, will remain in the dugout and his coaching partner will be skipper Charlotte Stuart in a player-manager role from the heart of defence. Former captain Faye Boshell will also bring her experience to this new coaching team.

A disappointing fifth-place finish last season does leave room for a fresh challenge but Bradford expect to be competing at the highest level once again.

The first team and reserves are in the FA Women's Premier League while the A team, having just missed out on the title last season, play in the First Division of the West Riding County Women's League.

Derby have failed to beat City in the last three games between the sides but the league seems to get more competitive every year and there cannot be any room for complacency.

The reserve division does not start until next week but the A team are in action tomorrow as they travel to Hemsworth for a League Cup preliminary round tie.

Other ties include Battyeford Belles v Farsley Celtic Reserves, Brighouse Athletic A v Tyersal, Brighouse Town Development v Silsden, Dewsbury Rangers v Durkar, Ilkley Town v Farsley Celtic A and Lower Hopton v Amaranth.

In Division One North of the FA Women's Premier League, Guiseley – having failed by one point to hang on to their Premier Division status last season – travel to Merseyside to face Marshalls Liverpool Feds, while promoted Brighouse Town start with a home game against Morecambe.
