ASA Briggs B won a tense Bradford Four-a-Side Knockout final by a single point at Shipley Club.

They edged out Tyersal 118-117 in the Kolorco (Printers)-sponsored competition to take the title for the first time since 2010.

After a long day of bowling, the best two teams made it through to the final, which could have gone either way as all games were tight throughout.

* IAN Booth (Halifax) and Craig Newton (Wakefield) were the latest qualifiers in the £5,300 Brighouse Classic.

Booth beat Harry Slack (Sheffield) 21-8 to qualify, while Newton recovered from 20-13 down to edge out Gareth Gwilliam (Hyde) 21-20.

The qualifying action continues tomorrow evening, with Pudsey bowlers James Hanson, Andy Hodgson and Josh Mordue all in action along with Steven Gilroy (Crossgates).

Thongsbridge duo Ryan Clark and Chris Kelly made Friday night progress. Clark defeated Greg Smith (West Brom FSC) 21-19, Gary Siswick (Crosland Moor) 21-20 and Chris Bly (Bury) 21-10 to qualify for finals night, while Kelly advanced with wins over Steve Gilroy (Crossgates) 21-14, Danny Walker (Denby Grange) 21-12 and Liam Fallas (Crosland Moor) 21-5.

Andrew Sykes (Mirfield Old Bank) and Callum Wraight (Shrewsbury) were Saturday night's qualifiers. Sykes rolled back the years to reach his first Pudsey Classic finals with wins over Jack Hargreaves (Hyde) 21-20, Graham Hickey (Thongsbridge) 21-4 and James Davison (Thongsbridge( 21-14), while Wraight made it through by defeating Andy Davison (Ossett Flying Horse) 21-11, Roger Morgan (Craig-y-Don) 21-18 and Paul Rooks (Eccleshill) 21-13.

The final qualifying round takes place this Saturday evening, with Richard and Joe Stockdale (Eccleshill) among those in action.

* YORKSHIRE overwhelmed Staffordshire 461-363 in the semi-finals of the British Crown Green County Championship and will now face Shropshire in the title decider on Sunday, September 4.

Ten home winners at Meltham helped Yorkshire to a 84-point aggregate victory, with home captain Graeme Wilson the pick of them after a 21-6 success.

Stuart King (Asa Briggs) made his debut in the away team at Pennfields BC and played superbly to card a 21-6 win which helped Yorkshire edge the aggregate by 14 chalks and with it a comfortable overall success.

* YORKSHIRE lost 440-410 to Shropshire in the Ladies County Championship semi-finals.

The Yorkshire team carded seven winners at Almondbury Liberal Club but lost the aggregate by 16 chalks, their first home defeat in over six years.

The away team kept it tight at St Georges in Telford, losing by only 14 chalks thanks to a great 21-9 effort by Sally Turner of Clayton.
