WITH just two games to go, only one point separates the top four clubs in Division One of the Bradford & District Evening League, with Salem Athletic leading the way from Mayfield, Denholme and Omars.

Shock of the day came at Denholme, where lowly Thornton, with only one win previously this season, managed to defend their 80-7 (Nikki Hutchinson 30, Matthew Wear 3-9), the hosts only managing 64-9 (Ross Parr 3-13, Bradley Weatherhead 3-15).

Salem Athletic took full advantage of Denholme’s slip by moving to the top with a seven-wicket victory over winless Great Horton Park Chapel.

They shot out the home side for just 56, with Khalid Usman taking 6-19, Suleman Khan then scoring 35 not out in Salem's reply of 58-3, with 3.4 overs to spare.

Omars (122-9, M Bilal 41, Amer Ayoub 4-18) proved too much for Shelf, who were dismissed for 62 (Mohammed Pandor 4-27, A Ahmed 3-10).

Shock of the day in Division Two was at West Bowling, who inflicted the first defeat of the season on Greenfield, who posted a competitive 108-6 (Sajid Ali 47).

However, the home side passed that total for the loss of three wickets, Zeeshan Haider top-scoring with 54 not out.

Ciroc moved level with Greenfield at the top of the table on 16 points after a 36-run victory at John Breare.

Ciroc scored an impressive 151-6 (Mushy Shah 50no, Cosmond Walters 50no), with John Breare then making a spirited 115-7, with Chris Coates top-scoring with 42.

Daisy Hill followed up their first win of the season the previous week with another victory, this time over previously high-flying Bradshaw.

Daisy posted an above-par 133-8, despite Jack Ryan’s 3-15, but Byron Greenwood’s 3-10 helped dismiss Bradshaw for 96, Josh Gledhill top-scoring with 30.

The individual performance of the day came from Yorkshire LPS’ Ankit Patel, who took four wickets in four balls in his 6-16, which restricted Hepworth & Idle to 71-9.

Unfortunately, Yorkshire LPS’ batsmen could not capitalise on this advantage as they were shot out for 27, with Alex Robinson taking 6-11.
