RECENTLY-appointed Bradford boss Alex Meechan insists that the new signings announced so far are just the tip of the iceberg and will soon be joined by a host of others following a busy period for the club.

The former Guiseley pair of full back Ryan Toulson and striker Nicky Boshell and Marine striker Chris Sharp have already signed deals.

And Avenue made a fourth signing today with the addition of winger Ben McKenna from Stalybridge Celtic.

The 23-year-old spent the last two campaigns at Bower Fold, having previously been at Workington for two seasons.

Meechan is now looking forward to boosting his squad with up to six more new men.

“My phone has been red hot for the last couple of weeks with calls to and from players,” he said.

“It’s been a hectic spell and I’m pleased with the quality of the signings that have been announced, and I can tell the club’s supporters that they will be happy with the rest of the players coming to Bradford.

“We’ve got four over the line but we’re probably looking at ten new players. We have reached verbal agreement with them, but, until they have signed we’re not going to jinx the deals by naming names.”

Meechan is looking forward to his new role and the new season and he has revealed that he will have a right hand man who may not always be beside him in the dugout.

Their incoming number two will be joining as a player/assistant manager.
“I’m very happy that I’m getting the man I want and again I think that the fans will be because he has played at a good level all of his career and has just finished a good season,” added Meechan.

“Things are moving along nicely now. The club has been in a bit of a negative spell recently but my aim is to change all that and bring in a squad that will be able to compete.

“People have said that there will be no expectation for the coming season but there will be expectation because we will be setting ourselves targets.
We will have a squad capable of taking the club forward.”
