MAYFIELD are quietly creeping up the Division One table in the Bradford Evening League and posted the highest score of the day at lowly Thornton.

Imran Khalid 55no & Manzar Shah 51no were the main contributors of their impressive 174-5. In reply, Thornton were 109 all out (Mohammed Altaf 4-13).

Denholme spinner Andy Wear took 3-23 including the early dismissal of Shelf’s prolific run scoring opener Amer Ayoub for just two runs and this proved pivotal in Denholme’s eventual nine-wicket victory.

After Ayoub’s departure Shelf found runs hard to come by and eventually finished on 89-8 from their 16 overs. In reply, Denholme were 94-1 from just 10.3 overs thanks to a fine overdue 49no from opener Jack Hainsworth.

Omars posted a gettable 111-9 at Great Horton Park Chapel (S Khan 30, A Ali 24, Blake Glen 3-21) but the home side could only manage 74-9 in reply in the face of some tight bowling from Omars (Abbas Ahmed 3-20, M Bilal 3-15).

In Division Two, John Breare’s 58-year-old veteran Steve Tinsley turned back the clock, taking 4-10 as Cambing were held to 88-8 (Fahim Jan 29). In reply John Breare only need 10.5 overs to reach their target for the loss of five wickets (Ben Waller 34, Chris Coates 27).

Table-toppers Greenfield pulled four points clear after defeating second placed Hepworth & Idle by five wickets as Yasir Ali (3-12) & Atif Zaidi (3-16) contained the visitors to 104-9 from their 18 overs.

Despite the best efforts of Simon McDermott (3-16), Greenfield ended on 107-5 with Sohail Khan top scoring with 29no and Sajid Ali adding another 24.

Woodlands’ Kez Ahmed (48) was the star of Ciroc’s 117-5 (Ahsan Alishan 3-23) but West Bowling ran them close falling just five runs short on 112-4.

That was thanks to 52no from new boy, Bankfoot’s overseas Marupuri Suresh and 38no from Zeeshan Haider who came together with West Bowling struggling on 9-3.

At the bottom of the table, Daisy Hill are still searching for their first win of the season after succumbing to Yorkshire LPS by seven wickets.

Divyang Patel was again Daisy Hill’s top scorer with 25 but he could only help the visitors to 69-4 from 16 overs. The Daisy Hill bowlers managed to take five wickets before Yorkshire LPS eventually passed their score on 70-5.
