CITY are again likely to utilise the loan market as they bid to fashion a squad capable of pushing for promotion from League One.

Loanees such as Reece Burke, Josh Cullen, Kyel Reid and Lee Evans played an important role in helping the Bantams to reach the play-offs last season.

New boss Stuart McCall said: "I think loan players last season were so important to a lot of clubs, certainly at Bradford.

"The market has changed and there are no emergency or short-term loans – it's now window to window, so they cannot be rushed.

"I'm also fortunate that, while it's not a big squad, we are inheriting good players and a really good dressing room with good, seasoned professionals.

"We've got to get a mix of youth and experience. We don't talk about budgets but we will get the best players we can and we started trying to recruit as soon as we came to the club.

"You always have your own players in mind and then you get a million more from agents.

"The owners have their players too, so we will sit down together and look through what we think is best.

"As Edin (joint-chairman Rahic) said to me, it's not about those who are available, it's those who are good."

McCall says he intends to bring in players on trial over the next two or three weeks to have a look at them.

"We're also working in the background to bring some top players into the club," he revealed.

"There is nothing in the pipeline at this moment in time, although work is going on behind the scenes.

"Certainly the middle of the park is a key area to strengthen because we have lost lots of players there.

"We will look to improve everywhere – but we have got good professionals at this club and they did well last season.

"They just need a little help, a little injection and that's what will happen."
