SAY what you like about Leigh, and many have in recent times, but life is never dull where the Centurions are concerned.

Controversial owner Derek Beaumont continues to throw money at the club in pursuit of a place in Super League.

Leigh are undefeated in their last 13 Championship matches, having won 12 and drawn one since losing at Batley in round one.

Josh Drinkwater, a player the Bulls pursued before he instead opted for Leigh, is likely to start in the halves alongside Ben Reynolds when the sides meet in Blackpool tomorrow.

On the coaching front, Paul Cooke has arrived as assistant to Neil Jukes and Kieron Purtill will also join the staff from Huddersfield at the end of the season.

Amid the turmoil of Paul Rowley, Ryan Brierley and Rangi Chase all leaving earlier this year, a very good squad remains in place.

“Leigh have a ‘who’s who’ of rugby league with the likes of Gareth Hock, Lee Smith and Micky Higham,” said Bulls head coach Rohan Smith.

“Those guys have done a lot in the British game and then you have the likes of Cory Paterson, Dayne Weston, Willie Tonga and Reni Maitua who have big reputations in Australia.

“They are strong right across the board, so we are going to have to perform well.

“We are focusing on the performance and let the scoreline take care of itself.”

Smith watched Leigh thump Swinton 48-6 last Sunday and added: “Leigh have guys who played for Australia, State of Origin and Great Britain.

“We haven’t focused on one player but we have covered, pretty thoroughly, the whole Leigh team across the board, so we are aware of their threats.

“Drinkwater has a tidy running game but his kicking game is particularly effective too.

“I’ve followed his career since Under-20s and, while he hasn’t quite managed to establish himself in the NRL, he’s a crafty player who manages the game well.”

Smith remains on the look-out for players and added: “I think there have been a lot of names put forward prior to me arriving at the club.

“I’ve since spoken to some players and agents and there are some things bubbling beneath the surface.

“I like to do my homework and make informed decisions, so I won’t be rushed into pulling the trigger on anything. It will happen when it’s the right time.”
