ON A day when rain shortened or stopped most games, there were some Aire-Wharfe League bowling performances that will have batsmen waking in the night in a cold sweat – not least in Division Three.

Leading the way was Tong Park Esholt duo Will Murray and Mahir Ali, who stopped Green Lane in their tracks for just 31 runs.

Gareth Wilkinson (49no) helped Park to 141-8 before Murray picked up 5-14 and Ali 5-17, which included a hat-trick and two wickets in two consecutive overs.

At one stage it looked as though Olicanian would dismiss Alwoodley even more cheaply but the visitors scrambled to 45, thanks to a defiant 30 partnership from the last pair.

Chris Wheeler (69) top-scored in Olicanian's 173-5 before Ed Broadley (5-29) and Sajeed Ijaz (4-10) wreaked havoc.

Zarshad Khan marked his move to Menston by masterminding the destruction of former club Silsden.

His undefeated 31 helped Menston to 193-7 and he then combined with Nadeem Hanif (4-26), taking 3-20 as Silsden crashed for 59.

Three wickets each from Jonathan Postle and Mark McEneaney restricted Bolton Villas to 117 and even though Sam Lawrence picked up three quick wickets, Sam Dobson (72no) saw leaders Hall Park maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

The same is no longer true of neighbours Horsforth, who crashed to a first defeat at Burley and lost top spot in Division One.

Horsforth's nightmares will feature Nick Brook, who top-scored with 59 not out in Burley's 166-8, ran out dangerman Byron Boshoff when he was on 36 and took 4-16 as Horsforth were bowled out for 123.

Beckwithshaw took over at the summit after a 108-run win at Steeton in which John Inglis (107) and Eugene Burzler (5-33) were the key figures.

Despite the efforts of Jake Zjilinszky (36) and John Goldthorp (40), Pool fell 14 runs short of victory at North Leeds and remain without a win.

Nathan Goldthorp scored 63 as Rawdon reached 137 and they looked on the way to victory as Andrew Doidge (4-30) and Kuda Samunderu (3-6) reduced Ilkley to 67-7.

But a stubborn unbeaten partnership lasting seven overs between Paul Dover and Dave Pennett helped Ilkley hang on and the rain finally saved them.

James Davies (59no) was going strong as Otley reached 118-2 in pursuit of Bilton's 201-7 but hopes of victory were thwarted by the elements.

Mike Truswell followed up the previous week's 105 not out with an unbeaten 123 off 84 balls, which included 12 fours and six sixes, as Division Two leaders Guiseley reached 204-7 in 33 overs. Ben Rhydding were struggling at 104-5 when the game was abandoned.

Addingham moved up to second with a 68-run win over Calverley, Ted Haggas taking 4-9 as the visitors were dismissed for 104.

Jack Holland (46) and Amer Ayboub (41) led the way in Thackley's 151 but, despite a spell of 4-37 from Shane Marshall that had Adel struggling at 75-5, they were denied by the weather.

The rain also thwarted Harden's chase of Follifoot's 177-7, which included a 4-46 spell from Paul Quinlan. Tom Cummins hit a half-century in the reply but a halt was called with his side on 91-2.

Pieter Coetzer (5-45) helped restrict Knaresborough to 165 but Skipton were looking in danger at 109-6 when the game was abandoned.
