HOLDERS Bradford Moor have booked themselves a tasty second-round tie against Interlink in the Sir James Roberts Cup.

Moor scored 205-8 off their 40 overs in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League competition, with Jahan Zeb (72) and Malik Nazir (54) sharing a second-wicket partnership of 115.

Opponents West Bowling were then dismissed for 47 in 26.5 overs, with Omer Malik taking 4-3.

Salem Athletic, semi-finalists last season, defeated Muff Field by seven wickets after dismissing them for 81, Paul Leach making a defiant 45 as Majid Rehman took 5-5 off his eight overs.

Athletic will now meet 2015 runners-up Omars, while league leaders Girlington – quarter-final victims of Omars last season – saw off Parkside by ten wickets.

Parkside made 100, Mussawar Shah taking 4-23, but that was no test for Girlington openers Zahid Khaliq (61no) and Moazam (41no) as they secured a match against fellow Group A side Great Horton Church.

Greenfield, flying the flag for Group C, were almost as convincing in seeing off Group B opponents Allerton by nine wickets after dismissing them for 120.

Iftikhar Ahmed hit an unbeaten 40 as Greenfield won by nine wickets to seal a tie against Group A cellar dwellers VVS Laxman.

Bradford Gymkhana made league status count as they beat Cross Roads & Daisy Hill by 29 runs.

Gymkhana made a healthy 236-8, Mohammed Sheraz (59) and Shahzad Ahmed (41) sharing a second-wicket stand of 100, while Shahid Raja chipped in with 41.

In reply, Daisy Hill made a good fist of it with 208-7, Josh Butterfield (55no) and Ian Clayton (67no) putting on an unbroken 134 partnership for the eighth wicket.

Gymkhana next face Hallfield, who won the closest tie of the round by six runs against Cambing.

Hallfield made 202 off only 35 overs, Murtaza Noor scoring 51 and Shahid Mehmood 50, while Cambing replied with 196-9, Asad Khan hitting 90 as Razaqat Ali took 5-19.

Finally, Mandhata beat Great Horton Meths by 130 runs after only making 181, Pritesh Patel scoring 44 while Mohammed Rameez took 7-58. Meths only replied with 51, Hiren Morker bagging 4-8.
