BRADFORD & Bingley stand in the way of a remarkable unbeaten season for West Leeds.

The Blue Hill Lane club have not only lifted the Yorkshire Two title, winning 22 matches and drawing three, but have also collected the RFU Senior Vase at Twickenham, defeating Withycombe 42-22 in the final.

That competition comprised another four matches and, thanks to the quarter-final replay against Bradford Salem, they have already played five matches in the Yorkshire Shield, stretching back to last August, when they defeated visitors York 53-10 in the first round.

The only team preventing West Leeds from completing a treble and stretching their 2015-16 record to an outstanding played 35, won 31, drawn four, are Yorkshire One champions Bees, who they meet in Sunday's Yorkshire Shield final at West Park Leeds (3.30pm).

Bradford& Bingley director of rugby Martin Whitcombe said of West Leeds: "They have had a stellar season.

"They have won at Twickenham, have won their league at a canter and haven't lost all campaign.

"They are chasing a treble but we are chasing a double and are going there to win the game."

Bradford & Bingley only got through their semi-final 20-16 at West Leeds' main league rivals Keighley last Saturday, when West Leeds were defeating Pontefract 48-20 in the other half of the draw.

Whitcombe said: "Keighley was a tough one for us as we hadn't played for a couple of weeks and they had, and we had one or two unavailable.

"But we have Richard Scull and Matt Cochrane back on Sunday, which will give us that bit more experience."

* Yorkshire, who have lost their opening two matches against Lancashire and Cheshire in the Bill Beaumont Cup (County Championship) Division One North, complete their programme tomorrow against Eastern Counties at Cambridge University RUFC.

Yorkshire's women have fared better in their County Championship, defeating Leicestershire 55-0, Staffordshire 44-5 and East Midlands 62-15.

On Sunday, they face a Roses battle against Lancashire in their semi-final at Barnsley RUFC (2.00).

Berkshire meet Surrey at Maidenhead in the other semi-final.
