TWO of the Braford Premier League’s big hitters will go head to head tomorrow when Bradford & Bingley take on Lightcliffe at Wagon Lane.

Noman Ali, who smashed six sixes in an over from Liversedge’s Matthew Barnes for Bradford & Bingley in the Priestley Cup last Sunday, comes up against Suleman Khan whose stunning 121 not out helped Lightcliffe chase down Hanging Heaton’s 320-6 to record a six-wicket win in the league last Saturday.

The form of both men has earned them selection for the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League side to face the Yorkshire Vikings in next Thursday’s T20 Challenge Match at Pudsey Congs.

As well as being big-hitting batsmen, Ali and Khan are both left-arm spinners who will play a key part in a largely youthful bowling attack.

Khan is one of five survivors from the side which faced the Vikings last year, skipper Gary Fellows, Callum Geldart, Curtis Free and James Wainman are the others.

Team manager Paul Hutchison has gone for a side that has a nice balance of youth and experience and includes two players currently on the Yorkshire staff, Wainman and Jordan Thompson.

He has also rewarded opening bowler Tom Chippendale for his bright start to the season and will have a chance to see him action tomorrow when he plays against Hutchison’s club Pudsey St Lawrence for Hanging Heaton at Tofts Road.

Hutchison said: “I have tried to give different players a chance to play for the league. I believe we have a good side and it has been good to see players like Noman and Suleman making big scores.

“In coming years I expect to see more players from our new clubs coming into the team and making their mark.”

The match at Pudsey Congs is part of the Yorkshire Vikings’ build up to the Natwest Blast. The game starts at 6pm and admission is £3. Under-11s accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.
