OTLEY gained revenge for last season's Aire-Wharfe League Waddilove Cup semi-final defeat as they knocked out holders Bilton in the first round.

Visitors Otley totalled 194-9, of which Chris Thompson made 49, but with Ricky Halloran (4-29) and John Brough (3-50) chipping away, it looked like being a tight finish until George Huntley ran out Ryan Bradshaw on 54. And even though Sajad Ali was unbeaten on 50, Bilton came up 18 short of victory.

Division Three outfit Leeds Modernians produced a shock win over Division One opponents Collingham – and there was more giant-killing as Tong Park Esholt dispatched Knaresborough.

Tong Park's 174 looked fragile, especially with the home side's overseas star Kiefer Peries on his way to a century. But tight bowling all round, especially from Nick Flood (3-23), meant the Aussie could not find partners to stay with him and when he was last man out, Knaresborough had only managed 161.

Green Lane also took out a side in a division above them as they overcame Skipton in a high-scoring affair.

Openers Waleed Akhtar (73) and Andy Lee (41) shared a 126 stand and with Azhar Mahmood cracking 54 not out in 34 balls, Lane raced to 310-6.

Skipton responded with half-centuries from Sam Moore and James Robinson but with Mahmood picking up three wickets, they were dismissed for 250.

Horsforth came out on top in the clash between the sides promoted from Division Two last season, beating Pool by 66 runs.

Bailey Worcester (64), Byron Boshoff (66) and Ollie Hardaker (49) were the main contributors to Horsforth's 296-8. Pool responded with spirit, Sam Wilkinson top-scoring with 59, but as before this season, they had given themselves too big a task.

Openers Richard Nichols (43) and Peter Towner (57) gave Guiseley a solid start but the rest of the batting could not build on it. Ben Pengelley (58no) and Ian Chaplin (40no) steered Ilkley into the next round with seven wickets and 16 overs to spare.

Red Bolton's impressive start to the season continued with 64 in Ben Rhydding's 214 but it was not nearly enough against the assault from Freddie Pearson (106no) and Craig Walton (60no) that sent Steeton through by seven wickets.

For the second day in a row, Jack Holland (68) dominated Thackley's batting, and with half-centuries from Amer Ayoub and Andy Parratt, they made 298-6, which visitors New Rover never looked like passing.

Bradley Reeve (4-27) and Kuda Samunderu (3-7) were the main reason Illingworth collapsed from 86-4 to 106 all out, setting up a nine-wicket win for Rawdon, with George Myers unbeaten on 64.

Henry Barrow was Addingham's saviour at Olicanian, following up a 3-20 spell with a top score of 32 as they squeaked through by one wicket.

Menston's overseas player Doug Bradley hit an unbeaten 97 as they passed Silsden's 164 with seven wickets in hand.

Hall Park never looked likely to catch North Leeds' 266-7 – and Harden had a similar problem at Adel, despite the efforts of Devin Pollock (61) and Matthew Topham (41).
