PHIL Parkinson praised City for a job well done after they booked a play-off spot with a week to spare.

Lee Evans scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Southend that confirms they cannot finish lower than fifth.

Parkinson was delighted to get their play-off future secured ahead of next week’s final game at home to Chesterfield.

He said: “That was the aim to get the job done today. We didn’t want to rely on anyone else.

“There’s nothing worse than going into the last game and you’re having to look at other results and everyone gets a bit edgy.

“I was so pleased with the way the players approached the game. They were so focused.

“It was difficult in blustery conditions against a team who were always going to be up for it in their last home game. But I thought we coped really well.

“We could have scored more but all round it was an excellent display.”
