A QUICK glance at the Championship table confirms the importance of tomorrow’s battle between London Broncos and the Bulls.

Andrew Henderson’s side lie second in the table and four points ahead of Bradford as the halfway point in the regular season approaches.

Victory for London would put significant daylight between the promotion rivals, so Bradford will aim to collect the two points and complete the double following last month’s home win.

Like Bradford, London were relegated from Super League at the end of 2014 and they have also remained full-time since their fall into the Championship.

Last year was a turbulent period for the Broncos as head coach Joey Grima quit early on in the campaign, leaving Henderson to take the reins with guidance from former Bradford boss Brian Noble.

The men from the capital missed out on a top-four finish last term, but they are on course to achieve their aims so far this year.

Indeed, Henderson’s men have won nine of their opening 11 games and destroyed Sheffield Eagles 56-24 in South Yorkshire last Friday.

There are plenty of Bradford links in the Broncos’ squad, with Elliot Kear, a popular figure during his three seasons at Odsal, a regular in their backline along with ex-Bulls academy player Ben Hellewell.

Mark Offerdahl, the USA international who agreed to join Bradford ahead of the 2015 campaign before injury put paid to the move, is now a mainstay of the Broncos pack.

Henderson has blended his team into a well-motivated force who could yet end up in Super League next term.

There is no shortage of quality in the Broncos’ ranks and the highly-rated Henderson is grateful for the backing of long-serving owner David Hughes.

Hughes has poured millions into the club down the years and has taken on a much more hands-on role with the club following his retirement.

Henderson said: “David has recently retired, which has allowed him to have more of an input and influence.

“This has been a massive asset for this club, that he’s more readily available and around to contribute to what’s going on.

“Before he never really had that luxury due to his work, and his commitment was probably limited to turning up on matchday. But now he can be a massive asset.”
