CHIB Chilaka hopes to sign off Avenue's up and down season by reaching a half-century of goals for the club.

Chilaka's double in the midweek loss to Nuneaton took the former Bantams striker to 49 and he has the chance to hit the milestone at home to Gainsborough Trinity tomorrow.

Caretaker boss Darren Edmondson will want to finish on a high after being left disappointed by Wednesday's defeat against the promotion chasers.

Edmondson has secured the club's National League North status and landed the West Riding County Cup, defending the trophy John Deacey won last term..

But he had hoped his side could extend a four-match unbeaten run going into the final two home games.

Now he will be looking to send the club into the summer break on a positive note with a victory.

Visitors Gainsborough sailed even closer to the wind than Avenue regarding their position in the division and their safety was only confirmed last weekend despite being beaten 1-0 at home by FC United of Manchester.

Trinity are under the guidance of caretaker boss Dominic Roma after the club captain was asked to step in when Steve Housham left early last month following four straight defeats.

But it has not brought about a change in fortunes as Gainsborough are without a win in seven.

Chib Chilaka netted a brace for Avenue in a losing cause in midweek but the two strikes put him on 49 goals for the club.

Avenue's presentation evening will follow the game and the club's supporters are being invited to join the playing squad and management team in the clubhouse after the final whistle at Horsfall Stadium to be a part of the celebrations.

The supporters' player of the year and the clubman of the year accolades will be handed out on the evening.
