THE RIDICULOUS weather has not been kind to any club so far this winter but it has been particularly hard on Liversedge, who are still waiting for their first game at Clayborn since October.

In the three months since then Sedge have suffered seven home postponements, ten in all, and played just four times.

The lack of momentum and match fitness has seen Jonathan Rimmington’s men bank just two points from a possible 12.

Their last home game ended in victory with a 4-3 win over Barton Town, who were fifth in the table at the time. Sedge were 19th back then but now find themselves propping up the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Rimmington said: “It’s frustrating more than anything, really frustrating.

“We’ve brought new lads in but we haven’t been able to build any momentum with them and we’ve actually lost players to the West Yorkshire League because the lads just want to play football.

“I live about a mile from Clayborn and I just know when I look out of my window that we’re in for more bad weather. We must be getting more rain at the minute than any other part of West Yorkshire.

“I go up to the ground every day and the pitch looks absolutely marvellous – from a distance. When you walk on it you can tell that there are some areas that are dangerous and at the end of the day it’s the players’ safety that we have to put first so I think that the referees are making the right judgement.”
