BRADFORD Mutual Sunday School League chairman Nick Spachis is to look into the validity of the vote for league secretary that took place at their annual meeting in November at Clayton Rugby League Club.

Graham Langton was voted in 25-24 in a secret ballot, ousting Taj Butt, but the latter said at the league's January meeting: "I believe that the wrong number of people voted and it was therefore invalid."

Spachis said: "Taj sent me an e-mail on December 22 regarding the result of the annual meeting vote, and we had a lengthy discussion at out first executive committee meeting of the new year on January 5, but apparently we didn't have a quorum to discuss it."

Butt said: "My e-mail of December 22 was a formal complaint to the executive committee about the number of people who were entitled to vote and the number of people who voted."

League president Alan Broadbent said: "How we are going to resolve this I don't know because we counted the vote three times and no-one complained on the night."

Spachis concluded: "I will have an investigation into the voting and will report back to the executive

committee on March 15, but I will only be looking at the vote for the secretary."

There were some calls at the January meeting for all of the annual meeting votes to be examined again as they must all be wrong, including that for chairman, where Spachis defeated Langton 31-19 to retain the post, but only the secretary's vote will be examined.
