A BRILLIANT individual performance from Phil Cawser helped Unity A to a tight victory at home to Dewsbury Tog in Division 1A of the Bradford League.

The visitors led 3-2 at halfway thanks to wins for Steve Kosmowsky, Steve Crosby and Freddie Osenton-Brown, Unity replying with victories by Ian Gomersal and Cawser over Kosmowsky and Brown respectively.

In the second half of the match, Cawser put his stamp on proceedings, levelling the match with triumphs over Crosby, and after Neil Harris had put Unity 4-3 up against Brown, he beat Kosmowsky in straight games to make it 5-3.

Crosby won the last singles for Tog against Gomersal but Unity had the last word as Cawser and Gomersal clinched the points with a 3-2 doubles win over Kosmowsky and Crosby.

In Division 2B, Hermits H went top of the table following victory at Pudsey B.

Hermits took six of the first seven sets as Martin Jackson won three, Terry Halliday rwo and Stephen Morris one before Pudsey reduced the deficit by taking the last three sets, leaving Hermits H with an eight-point lead over Hermits G.
