OMARI Caro believes his partnership with Kris Welham will spell double trouble for opposition defences after being reunited with his former Hull KR team-mate at Odsal.

Bulls winger Caro underlined his predatory instincts with a hat-trick of tries in Sunday's 22-12 opening win over Featherstone.

It was the perfect way to open his account for the season and the Hammersmith-born flyer reckons there is plenty more to come.

Caro played outside close-season signing Welham on the right flank and is confident he will continue to prosper alongside the red-headed centre.

The pair were team-mates at Craven Park for two seasons and 24-year-old Caro said: "Kris and I have a bit of an understanding.

"I know how he plays and he knows how I play, so I'm pretty comfortable playing outside a guy like that.

"If I was to list a side of the best players I've ever played with, then Welly would definitely be in that starting 13.

"Not only because of how he attacks but also his defensive qualities – he put in a big shot during Sunday's game and is just a solid player.

"He plays above his weight because he's not the biggest of guys but I have so much trust in him to make his tackles.

"I largely played on the left with Welly at Hull KR but we worked well together on the right against Featherstone and, personally, I don't mind which side I'm on."

Caro's deadly treble against Featherstone appears to have secured his spot on the right wing, with Danny Williams ready to challenge James Clare on the left when he returns to fitness.

"It's always good to get off the mark, especially on the opening day of the season," said Caro.

"I would have had a fourth but the referee called it forward, although I spoke to the touch judge afterwards and he said it was a flat pass.

"But never mind, I'll take three, and it would be great to score a hat-trick every week. I can't do the maths but I think 23 rounds equals 69 tries, so I would take that!

"In all seriousness, there is a lot of competition for places with James Clare, Danny Williams, Oscar Thomas, Etu Uaisele and young Ethan Ryan. It's just about performing every week and giving Jimmy (Lowes) something to think about."

Caro's rugby league career appeared to be over when he was shown the door by Hull KR boss Chris Chester at the end of the 2014 campaign.

The Londoner explained: "A year ago I was working in a shop back in London trying to make ends meet, so I had a chat with my mum on the phone before Sunday's game.

"She said 'just go and enjoy yourself and remember where you were a year ago', because it wasn't a nice place to be.

"It was good to get back out there on Sunday because when I left Hull KR at the end of 2014, I'd had enough of it. But in that time away from the game, I realised that playing rugby was all I had known.

"From when I left school, playing rugby was all I had ever done, so to come and play for a club like Bradford is an honour for me.

"I said when I came here last July that the Bulls should be in Super League, so hopefully this is the season we can get back up there."

Meanwhile, the Bulls' match at Swinton Lions has been moved to Saturday, February 20 at Widnes with a 7pm kick-off.
