BRADFORD Park Avenue will travel to Buxton tonight for a third attempt to play their FA Trophy third qualifying round tie, with Lincoln City awaiting the winners.

The tie at the Bucks’ Silverlands was originally scheduled for a week last Saturday but was abandoned at half-time.

It was hastily rearranged for last Tuesday but that too fell foul of the weather – on both occasions because of a waterlogged pitch.

It was the first time a fixture had been abandoned due to the condition of the pitch at the Silverlands since 1982.

Buxton have stood by their pledge for last Tuesday, so the game remains free to all spectators.

The clubs had agreed to play the match to a conclusion last Tuesday but they have since decided against that, so if tonight is a draw after 90 minutes it will go to a replay at Horsfall Stadium.

The Bucks go into the game on the back of a defeat after losing 2-0 at Silverlands to Workington at the weekend.

That loss dropped Buxton to 14th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, while Workington climbed to fourth.

There was also a straight red card for Alistair Taylor but striker Ash Worsfold made a comeback from his recent injury lay-off, coming on from the substitutes' bench.

Martin Drury’s Bradford are on the crest of a wave after beating Stalybridge Celtic 3-1 at Horsfall on Saturday.

The Avenue manager said: “James Walshaw phoned me on the morning of the Stalybridge game to say he had a stomach bug so he wasn’t in the squad.

“But I expect him to be available again, and all of the players came through Saturday okay so, apart from Luke (Dean) and Simon (Ainge), all the players are fit and ready to go for a tough cup tie.”

Avenue had three players on the scoresheet in Saturday’s deserved victory. Craig King opened the scoring before Richard Marshall grabbed his tenth of the season, putting him level with Chib Chilaka before the striker reclaimed the outright top scorer’s mantel with Avenue’s third.

Bradford last tasted defeat in October, going down 2-0 in Vanarama National League North at Stockport County.

Thackley are due to host Silsden in a West Riding County Cup quarter-final derby tonight.

Both clubs will be keen to see the match going ahead after they were frustrated by postponements at the weekend.

The Dennyboys’ Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash with Worksop Town at Dennyfield and Silsden’s home game against West Didsbury & Chorlton in the North West Counties top tier were both shelved due to waterlogged pitches.
