DRIGHLINGTON registered an impressive 4-1 win at Dewsbury Rangers in the second round of the Yorkshire Old Boys' Shield.

In awful conditions, Tom Swales gave Dewsbury a 1-0 lead but Drig soon took control and led 2-1 at the interval thanks to Shane Sowden's strike and a Sam Thorpe free-kick.

Sowden doubled his tally in the second half, with the Yorkshire Amateur League outfit's fourth goal netted by Brett Thompson.

Drighlington will play North Ferriby Athletic from the Humber Premier League in the quarter-finals on January 30.

The Grangefield goals came from Tyler Gill and Nick Smith from the spot.

Amaranth beat Calverley United 2-0 in Division One with first-half goals from Phil Chryssanthou and Ben Wilkinson.

They were denied a third goal by a superb penalty save by the Calverley goalkeeper just before half-time.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves thrashed Sandal Wanderers 4-1 to make it nine wins out of nine in Division Two.

The Celts led 2-0 at half-time after early strikes from Steve Wells and Will Hicks.

Wells made it 3-0 in the 61st minute with his 23rd league goal of the campaign, before substitute Danny Kemp added a fourth late on.
