BRADFORD Park Avenue face an arduous journey to Gloucester City in the National League North tonight with a rare rollicking still ringing in their ears.

Bradford boss Martin Drury admitted that he lost his cool with his players on Saturday following a shocking start at home to Hednesford.

Avenue recovered to draw 1-1 and will now look to build on that tonight at Gloucester, who are level on points but have played a game more.

Drury said: “I’m not a great believer in raising my voice in the dressing room, I just don’t think it sends out the right message to your players.

“But I have to say that at half-time on Saturday I shouted at them and I think I had the right to after the opening few minutes.

"I was so annoyed that all the plans we’d made, all the information we’d conveyed to the players, was for nothing after a bad start gifted Hednesford Town a second-minute lead.

“As I said on Saturday you have to give credit where credit’s due and the team did well to come back from that. We started just as badly at Chorley the week before and, although we rescued a draw from that one as well, we cannot keep giving teams a goal or two-goal starts.

“There were changes to the team for the Hednesford game because we have got a few players back from loan spells that are match fit and are ready to be involved in our squad once again.

“This is another important game and there may be changes again as we have to manage the squad and maintain the balance of the team.”

Right back Alex Pursehouse made way at half-time in Saturday’s home game so he may still be a doubt for tonight. Skipper Simon Ainge and midfielder Luke Dean are also likely to still be sidelined as they are carrying injuries.

Tonight's fixture is a genuine 'six-pointer'. Victory for either side would put them level with mid-table Alfreton Town, while the losers would remain just two points above the drop zone.
