BULLS star James Clare is staying open-minded about which position he would like to play during the 2016 campaign.

The 24-year-old joined Bradford from Castleford in July and impressed on the wing and at full back.

Indeed, his best game for Jimmy Lowes’ side came at full back in the stunning 41-10 win over Salford during the Qualifiers.

Yet Clare, who along with fellow mid-season arrival Omari Caro was left out altogether for the all-important Million Pound Game against Wakefield, is happy to play either position.

Clare said: “I just want to nail down a starting spot in the first thirteen – whether that’s at full back or winger is up to Jimmy.

“In the end-of-season review, he was happy for me to develop my game in both positions so that I can cover at wing and full back.

“It will be interesting to see what he does in the pre-season games and where he wants me to start.

“Being an out and out winger, you generally tend to take your chances when you get them because sometimes they are so few.

“Obviously in the full back role, you get so many more opportunities to do so many different things. I really relish getting my hands on the ball and having a go.

“I know you can make a few mistakes in that position as it’s all a bit new and exciting, but you can only learn from those mistakes and do the right things next time.”

Clare earned rave reviews for his display in the memorable win over Salford as he brilliantly created a try for Danny Williams, scored one himself and made a superb try-saving tackle on Niall Evalds.

Clare continued: “I’ve always enjoyed playing Salford.

“With some of the world-class players in their side, you always want to test yourself against the best possible players.

“I played with Rangi Chase at Cas and he’s a formidable talent.

“Michael Dobson has one of the best kicking games in the whole of Super League, if not the world, and it’s a good as a full back to challenge yourself against two of the best half backs.

“Even though we actually lost to Halifax the week before the Million Pound Game, that final home game against them was also a very special game for me.

“The atmosphere was brilliant even if the result didn’t go for us.”

Meanwhile, the Bulls have released Chris Ulugia and he is set to join part-time Championship rivals Batley.

Ulugia impressed for John Kear’s side during a loan spell in the second half of last season but also sidelined by injury.

His move to Mount Pleasant is subject to him obtaining a visa.
