RAIN caused the abandonment of the Bradford & District Evening League finals on Bank Holiday Monday at Great Horton Park Chapel.
Despite all the hard work of the groundstaff there, the continual rain and poor forecast led the league executive to cancel the matches. No new date is being planned.
However, Mayfield did collect their Division Two trophy, while individual awards were also presented to Imran Khalid (league batting winner), Charlie Davy (Division One batting winner), Kevin McDermott (league bowling winner), Abbas Ahmed (Division One bowling winner) and John Farr (joint- winner of the fielding trophy).
Attention now switches to the West Yorkshire Metropolitan Area Council Cup final at Halifax League club Booth on Sunday (1pm), when the Bradford Evening League play the Aire-Wharfe League over 40 overs per side.
Also on that date will be the delayed Solly Sports Crowther Cup final between Pudsey Congs and Woodlands at Morley (noon).
The Romwear Bradford Junior League's under-nine cup final between Pudsey St Lawrence and Lightcliffe was also a victim of the weather and will be restaged on Sunday, again at Undercliffe (10am).
