WEST Bowling produced their best display of the fledgling Bradford Sunday Alliance League season when they defeated early front-runners White Eagles 8-1 at Emsley's Recreation Ground.

It was not only the Eagles' first defeat of the campaign but moved Bowling to the top of the Premier Division.

Joe Jagger was rampant, scoring five times, starting the scoring after ten minutes when he closed down a back-pass to the keeper.

Jagger scored again after 25 minutes with a sweet shot after good work from Ben Bodle and Jordon Lee Hagyard had opened up the visitors' defence.

Hagyard was unlucky to hit the bar after half an hour but only had to wait a few more minutes to register after again tearing through the away ranks.

However, just before the break the visitors pulled one back via Steven Barge's accurate shot into the corner.

The question at half-time was could Bowling keep up the tempo in the second half – and the answer was an emphatic yes when Jagger hit a 30-yard shot which wrong-footed the keeper just after the restart.

Andrew Kenyon, playing up front with Jagger, worked tirelessly and got his reward, forcing the ball into the net off a defender, before a rare Eagles raid forced the hosts' reliable keeper Ashley Onitiri into a point-blank save, with the ball going over the bar.

A good run from Hagyard opened the visitors up once more and a disguised pass found Marc Price, who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 6-1.

Another great ball into the box by Andrew Gallagher then found Jagger, who made no mistake, and there was still time for Jagger to conjure up his fifth goal in what was far from a one-man show.

Meanwhile, Buttershaw Celtic kept up their good start to the campaign, defeating Bradford Moor 6-1.

Lee Smith returned from a one-game ban to hit five goals, including a hat-trick in 15 minutes, and Andrew Tasker scored with an unstoppable shot from over 30 yards.

Sandy Lane started their top-flight campaign with a 4-0 victory over promoted Ventus United.

In Division One, leaders Olympic shared the points and four goals with Undercliffe Cricket Club, who moved into fourth, while in Division 1A, Clayton Village Sports & Social Club beat Queensbury 6-1 to go top.

Bradford Vale are second on the same number of points after defeating Gallopers 7-3, with a hat-trick by Daniel Duckworth and a brace from James Fridlington, while Andy Bentley and Paddy Dunne also found the net for Vale.

In Division 2B, George United went three goals up before the interval against Delius and finished up winning 5-1.

This was a strong performance from United, which included a hat-trick from Danny Pattison and strikes by Mathew Gaudion and Liam Exley.
