TONY McMahon is staying away from Bradford City until his virus clears up.

The utility player missed last week’s draw at Barnsley and has not been at the training ground since.

Boss Phil Parkinson said: “At the start of the season Tony had an abscess and he got a virus from that.

“Everybody knows he hasn’t been himself in the games and it flared up again before last weekend.

“We sent him to see a specialist and subsequently we’ve had some blood tests done. He has got a virus that we need to clear up.

“We haven’t seen him at all this week and he’s going to be a while. But we’re just pleased the doctor has got to the bottom of it.

“Hopefully it will be cleared up in the next three or four days and he can come back fully fit next week.”

There are no new injury doubts ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Port Vale.
