RALPH Middlebrook is one of the sages of the JCT600 Bradford League but admits he hasn't got a clue how Pudsey Congs will fare in the NatWest Club T20 regional finals at Undercliffe tomorrow.

As winners of the Bradford League's Twenty20 competition, Congs will face South Yorkshire League champions Wickersley in the first semi-final at 10am, with Lincolnshire Premier League representatives Bourne facing Derbyshire Premier League champions Ticknall in the second semi-final at 1pm and the final at 4pm.

Congs' league representative Middlebrook said: "If you played Ian Botham over one ball, you might win, but if you played him over 20 overs you would get hammered.

"The shorter the format, the more difficult it is to predict the outcome but we are proud to be representing the Bradford League, and our defeat in the Heavy Woollen Cup semi-final (the final is tomorrow) means that we can name a full-strength side for Undercliffe.

"We have attacking batsmen, and you only have to look at the scores from 50-over matches this week to see what county teams can do, and league batsmen are learning from that."

Middlebrook added: "We don't know much about Wickersley but South Yorkshire is a strong area for cricket, so we are expecting a tough battle, and the same applies to the other two semi-finalists."

Congs won the Bradford League's Twenty20 Cup for the third time with a thrilling five-run win over old rivals Pudsey St Lawrence in this season's final at Tofts Road, but Wickersley won theirs more comfortably by 93 runs over Upper Haugh.

Wickersley made 166-5, with Shahjahn Younis scoring an unbeaten 38, before Iftikhar Afzal's impressive spell of 4-2-2-4 was responsible for restricting Upper Haugh to 73-7.

Bourne clinched a high-scoring victory over Lindum in their final, with Conrad Louth making an unbeaten 125 from 56 balls, hitting 11 sixes and seven fours as Louth made 241-2.

Lindum replied with 230, which included a stunning 143 by Luke Robinson.

Ticknall had to overcome Chesterfield in their rain-delayed final, the former making 145-6 after openers Luke Harvey and Tom Wood put on 63.

Wood made 35 from 22 balls and Harvey 38, while Paul Borrington quickened the tempo with an unbeaten 42.

Chesterfield were quickly reduced to 6-3 in reply and never recovered, being bowled out for 104 in 17.2 overs.
