A TOTAL of £6,000 was raised for the plastic surgery and burns research unit (PSBRU) at Bradford University by a charity golf day and auction at Northcliffe Golf Club.

The day was organised by life-long Bradford City fans Graham Darcy, who is a former Northcliffe captain, and Phil Whittaker. Twenty-four teams took part from local and international businesses, plus fans of both the Bantams and Leeds United.

Yorkshire Bank, who were taking part alongside Carlsberg, HSBC and Barclays, won the event, after which Ajay L Mahajan, senior lecturer for the PSBRU, gave a presentation on the success and achievements of the unit and what the raising of £6,000 can provide.

Darcy said: "It has been a really great day and I would like to thank all of the people who took part, and those members of Bradford City and the local community who supported Phil and myself with donations for both the auction and raffle prizes.

"I hope that the £6,000 we have raised will help Ajay Mahajan of the PSBRU continue to advance and develop their research, which is, after all, what this was all about."
