TRIANGLE, currently level with the defunct Halifax Cricket Club on 11 wins, are bidding for sole leadership of overall victories in the Foster's Halifax League Parish Cup on Sunday.

The record-chasing Triangle outfit meet Mytholmroyd in the final at Walton Street, Sowerby Bridge (1.30pm).

Both sides are no strangers to the final, however, as Mytholmroyd have won the cup on nine occasions.

Their path to the final never strayed from their own ground as Greetland, Old Crossleyans, Booth and Premier Division leaders Jer Lane all visited Moderna Way without success.

Triangle had a bye in the first round and then beat Southowram, Queensbury and Great Horton Park Chapel on their route to the final.

League matches between the two sides this season have both gone with home advantage, so there is little clue there to this weekend's outcome, and a tight contest looks certain.

The result may well depend on which of two in-form cup batsmen are untroubled by nerves.

Steven Senior has already hit 260 runs in four ties for Mytholmroyd, while Christian Silkstone of Triangle has fared even better with 285 from three ties.

Mytholmroyd skipper and opening batsman Tom Earle misses the final due to a long-arranged family holiday but fast bowling brother Jack has delayed his flight and plays. Adie Gawthorpe captains the side.

Triangle captain Carl Fletcher has missed some matches this season and it is likely that Silkstone will lead the Grassy Bottom club.

The final umpires are Ken Campbell (Mount Tabor) and Stephen Booth (Clayton), with Keith Hartley (Mount Tabor) the third official.
