YORKSHIRE endured a tough opening morning of their LV= County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, reaching lunch at 75-4 after 29 overs.

The defending champions and Division One leaders elected to bat but soon slipped to 26-3 in the 12th over and later 55-4 after 21.

Will Rhodes, Jack Leaning, Andrew Gale and Alex Lees all fell cheaply, with the accurate home attack aided by some early morning swing.

Rhodes was bowled by Chris Wright, who also had Leaning caught at third slip. Gale was caught at first slip off Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Lees stumped off former New Zealand off-spinner Jeetan Patel.

Jonny Bairstow, dropped by wicketkeeper Pete McKay on 37 in the last over of the session following a leg glance at Wright, was 38 not out at the interval, with Aaron Finch unbeaten on one.
