MARK Bower’s Guiseley squad is continuing to take shape as the Lions look to begin their first season in the country’s fifth division.

Although the manager has lost four of last season’s promotion-winning squad, many more have agreed new terms for the coming season in the National League and that number was swelled when defenders Ben Parker and Danny Hall became the latest to put pen to paper.

Former Leeds United left back Parker, who had a loan spell with Bradford City playing alongside Bower, has revealed that he turned down interest from Football League clubs to commit to Guiseley.

Both Parker and Hall played an important part in Guiseley’s march to the play-offs. But the man who began the campaign as club captain was hit by injury in the closing stages and that will restrict him in the early part of pre-season.

Lions boss Bower signed both men soon after taking over from Steve Kittrick so he is glad to have secured their services for the club’s first season at the top table of the non-league game.

Bower said: “We’re delighted to have Ben and Danny back on board again this season.

“Both have proven quality and experience at higher levels, which is what we’ll need as we embark on our first season in the Vanarama National League.”
